PARALYMPICS: ONE SILVER, ONE GOLD, AND MORE TO COME! GO #TEAMNIGERIA

The records almost have me saying what a 'fully-abled' man can do, a 'differently-abled' can do better!

We had shared with you #TeamNigeria's preparations for the Paralympics Rio2016 and published a list of names of some of the athletes that had been selected to represent us (see here), now, we have good news!

Like one is not enough, we have won two medals already at the games. And we know how this can boost our confidence and cause a ripple effect of more wins for #TeamNigeria.

Latifat Tijani (top picture) was the first medalist to make us proud, winning a silver in the Women's 54kg Power lifting event. She entered the competition lifting 101kg, a kilo ahead of existing Paralympic record, and lifted up to 106 kilos, one kilo short of China's Hu Dandan's 107 kilos gold-winning record.

Our second but first gold medalist is Roland Ezuruike (second picture). He beat all to claim first place at the Men's 54kg Power lifting event.
What Ezuruike has done is that he has re-positioned Nigeria at 14th on the medals table, and 2nd in Africa, just behind Tunisia.
